Role Description

This role is primarily accountable for:
    Overseeing the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives.
    Fostering staff development and continuous education of accounting staff members. Providing constructive feedback to accounting staff through daily interaction and periodic developmental dialogs.
    Providing oversight to ensure compliance with GAAP, accounting policies and procedures, and all relevant federal, state, and local legal requirements and regulations, including both reviewing and conducting related research.  
    Ensuring timely and accurate processing of all general ledger entries, including adjusting entries from reconciliations. 
    Guiding financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures.
    Directing the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers: fixed assets, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
    Ensuring the appropriate internal controls are developed and maintained over all aspects of the financial process.
    Reviewing and auditing the daily output of the theater point-of-sale (POS) systems and validating entries to record POS transaction summary in general ledger.
    Monitoring cash and debt levels to ensure adequate working capital is available while complying with all applicable debt covenants.
    Reviewing the daily reconciliation of all bank accounts.
    Reconciling all stored balance and rebate accounts with third party providers. 
    Performing analytical reviews of all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis. 
    Preparing various financial statements and reports, including weekly and monthly management accounts, financial statements, balance sheet, and profit and loss accounts.
    Managing and supervising the maintenance of standard costing records in the POS systems to ensure correct recording of all standard cost entries of items sold, including all cost and volume variances. 
    Assisting in the development and preparation of all annual budgets, reforecasts, 3 and 5 year plans.
    Reviewing film rental and payroll accrual calculations.
    Coordinating preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.

Requirements: Education, Experience, Competencies
    CPA preferred
    Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or equivalent business experience and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation.  
    Minimum 5 years’ experience in theater or hospitality retail businesses involving multiple, multi-state locations
    Hands on experience with SAP or other major ERP system (e.g., Yardi, JDEdwards, etc.)
    Advanced use of Microsoft Excel and Access
    Excellent interpersonal skills; strong verbal and written communication skills
    Ability to supervise staff and perform to tight deadlines
